John Cleerman Hunt Report – July 2017

I FOUND A WATER BUFFALO HUNT IN AUSTRALIA. WHY NOT TRY SOMETHING NEW. JULY 1/2017 ANDREW MACKAY OF AUSTRALIAN OUTFITTERS PICKED ME UP IN DARWIN. AFTER AN ALL DAY DRIVE WE GOT TO CAMP AND WOW, TALK ABOUT THE OUTBACK I
FOUND IT. AWESOME TENT! THE WATERFALL IS TO DIE FOR. AFTER A COLD BEER AND A GREAT MEAL WITH WINE, EARLY TO BED. NEXT MORNING ITS OFF TO THE BUSH (AND WAY IN THE BUSH) WE SAW ABOUT 12 BUFFALO, BUT NO SHOOTER. AND THEN ANDREW SAYS GET YOUR GUN AND LETS GO, HE IS NICE.

WELL AFTER BIG CHASE WE COULDN’T GET ON HIM FOR A SHOT. BACK TO THE TRUCK AND MOVE ON. WE PASS UP A FEW MORE, THEN THERE IS ANOTHER NICE ONE. OFF WE GO AGAIN, AS WE GAIN GROUND HE STOPPED I SHOT AND IN THE BUSH HE RAN. OFF WE GO ON THE BLOOD, BUT NOT FOR LONG, 2 MORE SHOTS AND HE IS DOWN. WOW WAS A RUSH AND NICE BUFFALO.

ANDREW WORKED HIS ASS OFF IN THE BRIGHT HOT SUN CUTTING AND CAPPING OUT THE BUFFALO. ANOTHER GREAT MEAL AND TO BED. MORNING CAME WITH EGGS AND TOAST, THEN OFF TO THE RIVER FOR WHAT? FISHING BARRAMUNDI SAYS ANDREW, AND I LOVE TO FISH. ANDREW WINS WITH FIRST FISH.

10 MINUTES AFTER I SET THE HOOK AND LAND A NICE ONE, BACK TO CAMP AND CLEAN FISH. SUN IS SETTING AND THE FISH ARE ON THE GRILL, BEER IN HAND AND JUST WATCHING THE WATERFALL. I AM THINKING IT JUST DON’T GET ANY BETTER !!!!!! FISH WAS TOTALLY AWESOME OR JUST A DAMN GOOD COOK.

ALL IN ALL THIS WAS MORE THAN A HUNT THIS WAS A TRUE ADVENTURE.

THANK YOU, ANDREW DUNDEE MACKAY

Australia Group Hunt – August 2016

It was a great hunt. All-in-all, it was a great experience. Each hunter in out group took a buffalo. The food was great and all the comforts of the outback were provided. Great time!

I had a wonderful time spending time with Lora in camp. It’s been ten or more years since I have spent time in a tent and this was a great experience! Thank you for everything!

Hunting Testimonial – Steve Price – July 2016

Andrew is the stunt driver, the professional hunter, the tracker and the skinner, all condensed into a single man. Andrew is, without a doubt, the first man you want beside you when the hunted becomes the hunter. As you might imagine, he also retains an endless collection of entertaining first-hand experiences to keep things interesting when the hunting day concludes.

Of course, table fare is a very important aspect of any hunting experience. Fresh, grilled barramundi taken from the river beside camp was the featured item and was most certainly my favorite meal in camp. We feasted on a variety of meats including rusa deer, sambar deer, lamb and juicy beef steaks. We were served a delicious well-balanced meal three times daily whether in camp or in the field. One evening Lora served New Zealand green lipped mussels with wasabi for a dinner appetizer. Another morning she surprised us with eggs Benedict.

In conclusion, Australia’s Outback is a superb place to meet incredibly friendly, English-speaking people, enjoy great fair-chase hunting and have a “no cellular devices in use” experience. I highly recommend it!

Outback Hunt Report – Bob Bell – June 2016

I really enjoyed hunting water buffalo and fishing in Outback Australia. I have never been to the rural part of Australia and found it to be quite interesting with all the termite mounds, local people, and many miles of miles. It is a very big country. I also enjoyed petting Scott’s “pet”crocodile. Australian Outfitters by Andrew Mackay runs a great hunting camp and make Australia proud.

Hunt Report – Melanie Pepper

We met Andrew of Australian Outfitters at FTW Ranch in Barksdale, TX with our grandson Max (age 6 then). We all took the long range shooting school and hunted with Andrew in Texas several times. His hunting skills, determination in acquiring our trophies, optimism and great sense of humor convinced us to com to Australia. And what a fabulous time we had: Great trophies, beautiful tent camp, terrific food and lots of laughter. All of this and Lora Young too. We call her “amazing” Lora. She does anything and everything well and carries it out with graciousness. A great addition to Andrew’s camp and we can’t wait to see her in the states! (and Andrew too, lol)

Thanks for a great hunt and a great time. Out long awaited Australian hunt certainly did not disappoint! Can’t wait to return with out grandson Max who is now 16!
